Sailor is introducing the next addition to their CHINKIN series. The pen’s design is inspired by the Ohmurasaki, or giant purple butterfly, which is Japan’s national butterfly. This butterfly has been loved by many people since ancient times, spreading its beautiful wings as it flutters.

 Its name is said to come from “Murasaki no Ue,” the woman whom Hikaru Genji loved the most in The Tale of Genji, Japan's most famous classic. The purple color of the butterfly symbolizes her beauty and nobility. The deep purple wings of the pen’s design emit a mysterious glow depending on the angle of the light, like stars scattered across the night sky.
